The day was winding up, for the most part, without incident. There had been a few panic attacks, but nothing Candice hadn't expected. Whenever something happened in the town, there was usual a little hysteria to be dealt with. The usual dosage of hot tea and a warm blanket usually did the trick.

If only there was something in her extensive medical cabinets to make the clock go faster. The closer four approached, as well as the end of her shift, the slower the hands seemed to tick across the face of the clock. She was itching to get outside, to take Apples for a run through the woods on the outskirts of town. Sure, with recent events she should be locked up safe inside, but in Candice's mind there was no greater protection than an immense Wolfhound.

I apologize for the lateness, but there was a mild crisis at work, you know how it goes. Anyhow, feel free to have your characters react however you'd like to this information.

The murder is said to have occurred on Tuesday night.

There are two newspapers in Haven Falls and both of them cover the story, blaring front page headlines that declare the heinousness of the crime without offering any gory details that might upset the residents of the town. They do offer what the police have released to them: that the victim was a respected and well-liked banker named Hollis Anderson, that the housekeeper found the body when she went to clean on Wednesday afternoon, that there are no suspects as of yet.

The facts of the case are bare, but as in all small towns, rumors abound. The housekeeper spreads most of them, talking in hushed tones about the amount of blood, about how it was splashed across the floor and spread on the walls. There were handprints, she says, dotted across the walls as though someone was playing.

Most disturbing, perhaps, is the rumor that when they finally rolled Anderson into a body bag to take him to the morgue, they found that his chest was a mess of broken bones and shredded flesh, and his heart was already gone.

People are talking now, dark words about how no citizen of Haven Falls could have done something like this, how it has to be an outsider, someone who just came to the town. Unfriendly eyes are turning to the college campus and the police, desperate for leads, are systematically investigating everyone new to the town...

[OOC] Introduction

Just a quick note to say hello to you all! My name is Conor, and I'll be handling Ellie Roberts, a restless woman of the world who in a past life was Westley from The Princess Bride.

I look forward to getting to know everybody a bit better over the next week or two, as well as posting a few roleplays and getting started. Feel free to add me to your Friends list and I'll do the same with you!

Rowan carefully tacked a corner of the bedsheet to the outside wall of the workshop, shivering at a light breeze that ruffled through his hair and made the far corners of the sheet flap and flutter. It was a shame that he couldn't do this inside, but the workshop's shelves and somewhat uneven walls made that pretty much impossible. If he wanted to go through with his entire plan, he was going to have to work on each piece in accordance with a strict deadline. He didn't have much time as it was, and there were lives at stake.

Danny was bored.

He couldn't help it. Haven Falls was a great place to hide out, but that was about it. There was no nightlife to speak of, only one bar in the whole place and that mostly populated by college kids. They were nice enough, he supposed, especially some of the girls, but it wasn't really his scene. He'd passed his heavy drinking days a long time ago and all he really wanted now was to sit down with a beer and talk to some interesting people.

Instead, he found himself sitting on a low wall, sipping a black coffee from the campus coffee house, and wondering what in the world to do. He had a place, sure, and a pretty decent car, but it wasn't enough. He didn't like the idea of living off of the bank money for much longer, partly because he didn't want people wondering about where he was getting his income but also because he just didn't like to be idle. So a job had to be procured, but that was easier said than done in a town full of poor college students also looking for gainful employment.

Sighing, Danny took another drink of his coffee and shook a cigarette out of the pack of Marlboros tucked into his pocket, turning the gesture into a little wave directed at a young girl walking down the sidewalk opposite him.

Mod Post

Hello everyone! I'm your friendly neighborhood mod, Mary.

As I'm sure you all know, we're going to start the game up tomorrow, but first there are a few things that need to be done. Everyone has their journal set up and ready, so you'll want to go through and friend everyone else so that you can easily read their journals. I'm also going to put together an AIM contact list so that there is an easy reference as to who is playing what character.

As for the game, here's how the plan goes so far. We'll be starting actual play tomorrow. That means you can start posting standalone fics or journal entries in your character journals as well as open RP tags (or closed, if you already know another player and have worked out character backstory) in the community. We'll be doing that for a few days so that the characters can get to know each other and so we can get to know each other, too.

On Wednesday, I'll be posting the first plot point, but we'll get to that later on. ;)

So think about what you want to post, IM your fellow players, start plotting, and tell your friends about the game! The more the merrier, after all. And most importantly, have fun!

Hey there! I'm Katie, and I play Rowan Eady, an eco-geek who doesn't realize that he used to be Buttercup, perhaps better known as The Princess Bride.

You can catch me on AIM at kiji kat67. It's great to see all these new twists and turns on beloved characters, and I can't wait to see what happens next!
